Welcome to the

Photothermal Techniques and Optical Spectroscopy Laboratory

Logo latefeo.png

Our research group work with the development of theoretical and computational models involving the interaction of light with matter. As well as, the experimental validation of the proposed models and application in the characterization of liquid and solid materials.

Research Activity Overview:

- Experimental and theoretical study of the effects of optical forces in solids and liquids.
- Development of analytical models considering the effect of sample–fluid heat coupling in photothermal techniques;
- Application of photothermal techniques for thermal, optical and mechanical characterization of glass, polymers, metals and semiconductors;
- Investigation, through spectroscopic techniques, of biofuels,edible oils, and photosensitive dyes used in photodynamic therapy.

- Optically active materials for the development of spectral converters.
- Sustainability and life cycle of materials and their devices.

- Instrumentation for Physics Teaching.
